Packing is not something that most people look forward to when moving. Fortunately, there many steps that may be taken to avoid the hassles and stress of packing.

1.   The ?essentials' box
Think about the items you'll need immediately. Toss them into a box and label it as ?essentials'. Ideally, each member of the family must have his own essentials box.
2.   Clear clutter
Get rid of the things you no longer need. Discard them by arranging a yard sale or donating them to charities. Disposal of excess items before packing not only saves time, but reduces your moving costs as well.
3.   One room at a time
The mere thought of unpacked treasures can be overwhelming. This can lure you to packing items haphazardly. So pack one room at a time. This way you can stay focused and organized.
4.   Cushioning alternatives
Instead of buying packing paper and bubble wrap, use blankets, linens, rags and other fabric materials as cushioning to fragile materials.
5.   Keep detachable parts together
If you have dissembled furniture for easy hauling, be sure to keep tiny parts in a plastic bag. Tape the bag beneath the furniture it belongs to so as to avoid misplacements.
6.   Don't overload
Each box should weigh no more than 50 pounds. Overloading boxes can cause injuries at the back, shoulder and hands. Heavy boxes could also rip the box's seams apart, causing its contents to fall off removal services.
