How to Get Accurate Estimates
Published on Friday, 24 July 2009
How to Get Accurate Estimates As a client, you would always want an accurate estimate of the fees you need to pay the removals company. Reputable companies would not scam you by giving a low initial estimate. However, you need to protect yourself from the other kind of removals companies. The key to receiving an accurate estimate is really showing and informing the removals company all your belongings that they will handle whether it is just for transportation or packing too. Nonbinding Estimates Take note that estimates usually are computed according to the type of items to be packed and transported, the number of people needed for the move, the number of hours the move is going to take and the distance of the move. As one variable increases so will the bill you will get. Someone from the removals company may survey your things in person. But if he miscalculates the number of hours needed, for example, your bill will go up too. If you forget to show some of your things, fees will increase as well. Binding Estimates You will be protected from any increase of bills only if you get a binding estimate. Even if there is a miscalculation on the estimate based on the survey, the fees would still be the same. Of course, forgetting to show some things or intentionally doing this is not allowed though. Getting a binding estimate would take time because the survey would be more thorough. It is also usually higher to make sure that the company would still get a markup even if there is a slight miscalculation on their part. If you want a definite amount, you may prefer getting a binding estimate. On the other hand, if you want to get a lower rate and if you trust the company not to take advantage of you, you may want the unbinding estimate.
