Packing and Moving:

Published on Tuesday, 18 August 2009 Packing and Moving: If the Shoe Fits and Other Things You want to Put Inside a Box Estimating what can fit inside a box can be a tricky and sticky situation. Have too little, and you're faced with the hassle of having to buy more (which is especially problematic for last minute movers). Have too many, then you've wasted moneyalthough it is better to have just a bit more, just in case. It is best first, to have an idea of how what exactly you'll be bringing with you during your move. You can take measurements of stacks of these items (pack similar items together, like clothes and books) beforehand, and then compare them to the dimensions of the box you'd like to use. If you happen to have elicited the services of a company who sends an inspector to see the volume of items you're having them transport, it might be a good idea to ask for their opinion as they are experienced in estimating the volume of items and therefore, can give you a more accurate report on the number of boxes you're going to need. As for the size of the box, medium sized ones are recommended, as they give more utility and pretty much everything, except extra large items, will fit inside them.
