Should You Leave Right after Foreclosure Notice?

Published on Friday, 05 February 2010

People generally end up facing foreclosure because of missed payments. And this, in turn is usually caused by cash shortage. So it is really your main concern to save as much money in the next few months so you can recover a bit financially. In fact, you may not even have sufficient funds for putting in a security deposit. And so, it is really to your best interest not to leave your house immediately after facing foreclosure.

Take note that while the house is foreclosed, the bank still has to go through the legalities before the property is officially and legally foreclosed. It has to be the court that has to grant the foreclosure. After that sheriff sale has to be done too. So it would literally take months before the house will have a new owner. This also means that it will take all this time for you to finally get the eviction notice. If you live in a state where there is a redemption period, you can even buy yourself more time. So if you wait for the eviction notice before leaving you could save a lot of money. This will also give you time to find some means to sustain your financial needs and to prepare for your next living arrangements.
