The Best Things You Can Do When Moving With Kids

The Best Things You Can Do When Moving With Kids

Published on Sunday, 20 September 2009

If you think that moving is stressful on your part, then wait until your kids show signs of stress. Your kids will feel double or even triple of the stress you feel. So besides taking care of your own stress, better take care of your kids' stress also when moving.

There are things you can do to help them feel at ease when moving and therefore reduce stress.

·       Inform your kids that you will move as soon as possible. Don't wait until they have discovered that you are moving. Kids hate to feel that they are treated as kids. So don't just keep the moving information between you and your spouse. Your kids have the right to know that they will move to another place, too.
·       Talk with your kids calmly and explain the reasons of moving. At first, kids might cry and choose to be left alone-let them. After some time, you can talk with them and explain why you need to move. They'll surely understand if you have valid reasons.
·       Suggest some nice things before and after the move. If your kids worry about their friends, better suggest to them to visit their friends once in a while or to talk through computer. You may also suggest them to invite their friends for a dinner and a sleep over.
·       Be your kid's inspiration by keeping your positive vibration. You should never show your kids that you are stressed also. Instead, show them that you are fine and they should be fine, too.

Kids are really tough to handle especially if they will be departed from the things they love. But they will understand that as long as they know that everything will be okay after you move.
