The Right Way of Packing Things in a Box

Published on Monday, 27 July 2009

The Right Way of Packing Things in a Box The Right Way of Packing Things in a Box Packing using boxes is one of the most well-known and used methods of packing. Well, using boxes is also one of the most convenient. It can also be one of the safest if you know how to pack your things inside the box rightly. To help you out with this, you can follow these guides when you pack using a box:  Use more durable cartons for heavier items like books, canned foods, and wine. Lighter cartons are okay for lighter things like clothes, stuff toys, and light bags.  Secure the bottom of the box before you put anything in it. Never interlock the box flaps. Instead, use a durable packing tape to seal the flaps. The most recommended is two thickness of packing tape for the bottom.  Put padding on the line bottom of the carton. This will provide better durability for the bottom. You can use towels, linens, or papers as padding.  Wrap fragile things like china wares and glass wares separately with newspapers or Styrofoam-like sheets.  Place padding for every layer of glassware.  You can place lighter things on top of the glassware like Tupperware and others. Just make sure to place padding after every layer of things in a carton.  Fill every gap between each item in the box with papers or other soft yet flexible materials.  Ideally, two-third of the box should be utilized by the fragile items while the remaining should be the padding.  Never overfill a carton.  Limit each box's weight to around 23 kilograms.  Label which side of the carton should be up.  Put a note on every carton. This should state what is inside the box. Packing is the most essential and meticulous process in moving. Never take this for granted because proper packing follows proper loading, delivery, unloading, and unpacking.
