Tips on Proper Packing and Unpacking of Plants

Published on Tuesday, 24 November 2009 You may think that you simply have to put plants at the back f your car before the move. But you have to prepare the plants too if you want to maintain its health and beauty during and after the move. As early as two weeks before the move, you have to start by pruning the plants. There are proper ways of doing it so if you are not experienced on this make sure you consult a florist, the books or the Internet before doing anything. A week after that, it would be time to debug and get rid of pests in the plant. Put bug powder inside black plastic bags. Then put one plant inside each plastic bag. Seal the bags before storing them overnight in a cool area. And on the day of the move, place wet paper towels on top of the leaves to keep them from drying. Cover the whole plant with the same too for protection. Pack them in sturdy boxes. But don't forget to put damp newspapers at the bottom. Give them air to breath by punching holes on top of the box. Clearly label the boxes so movers will not load them. If you need to make a stop during the travel, make sure you park in a cool area during summer. But if it's winter, park your car in a sunny area. Then unpack the plants the soonest possible time when you get to your new address. Do not expose them to direct sunlight. But rather do it gradually so the plants can slowly readjust to its new environment.
