What Blankets Can You Use to Move With?

Published on Tuesday, 14 December 2010 Most people just end up renting some moving blankets to help with their move. This is fine if you have extra money to spare, but in this tough economy you might find it's smarter to just use something you have laying around the house. You can either buy moving blankets or rent them from a local moving company such as uhaul, but if you don't want to spend any money you should first realize that you might have the tools in your home already to accomplish what you need. There are many things you can do with the blankets in your house, and it's really not too tough to understand why and how. A professional moving company is going to use professional blankets and that's understandable, but if you are just one person or family moving your belongings you could find some blankets around your house that will do the trick just fine. The thicker they are the better. You won't want to use any sheets or very thin blankets because outside of covering dust or protecting from germs they won't do anything for the furniture or your other belongings at all. Also if you plan on using your current bedspread you might want to think again, depending on the type of move. If you have an expensive blanket you are using right now, you might not want to use it simply because it might get cut, or stained during the move. All of this should just be left as a judgement call for you but you should be okay using alternative moving blankets as long as you do your research.
