Packing and cleaning, for some people, would require at least two days while others would need at least a week or even more. It may be a boring job for most, but it is definitely an important part of the moving process. A couple of days are a good enough allotment for you to devote to our packing. But more often than not, you would need to attend to other things such as repairs, painting or renovating before moving. To speed up you packing time, you can start de-cluttering your biggest cupboard first. Clear and clean them completely so you can place empty boxes in your cupboard. After which, you can begin packing things that you do not need presently or in the near future. One good example is the things that you use for your hobby or your summer clothes if you are moving in the winter. Proceed with your packing in the same manner so that you will have more space to store the boxes in one location. This will be the best time for you to get rid of non-essential items such as old toys or clothes. You can also start your packing when the kids are not at home. This way, you don't have to deal with their emotional attachment on outgrown items such as toys and clothes. At the end of the day, allotting time for packing is necessary to avoid hassles like leaving at your old home some of the items that you need when transferring to your new house.
