What You Need To Know About Moving Boxes

Published on Thursday, 27 August 2009 What You Need To Know About Moving Boxes Many people think that moving boxes are just boxes, but there is a lot more to them than just cardboard containers for your things. For example, boxes have a maximum weight limit, so going above it risks the box getting destroyed while in transit, thus damaging your things. The most usual size for moving boxes is 1.5 cubic foot moving box which can hold up to 60 pounds. However, just to be safe, keep the weight down to 50 lbs. For bigger things like pots and pans, you can use 3.0 or 4.5 cubic foot boxes. But regardless of size, it is always best to keep each box's weight at more or less 50 lbs. so you can lift them yourself. If you have hired movers, then you can then have them weigh more, but never make it the maximum. Remember to have different sized boxes for your things which is why it is important to inventory your things and plan ahead so you know which things you'll be bringing with you and the size of the boxes you will be needing. You may opt for renting used boxes, but these are less durable than new ones. A good thing to do would be to use new boxes for fragile things, and used boxes for non-breakable things like pots and pans and cushions and pillows and the like.
