Who Says a Self Move can't be Injury-free? removals

Published on Friday, 19 August 2011

Who Says a Self Move can't be Injury-free? removalsMoving from an apartment is not easy, especially if you have to do everything by yourself. All the lifting and shifting could cause serious injuries to your back and neck. If you are not careful, you could strain your back or drop valuables and cause damage to them. The following are some safety packing and moving techniques to move without sores and stress.

1.    Use smaller boxes for heavy items
Heavy items such as books should be packed in smaller boxes. Use a box too large and you could end up overloading it, making it impossible for a single person to carry.
2.    Don't use your back to lift and shift boxes
Use your hands and arms instead so your lower body could provide support. This technique also gives you better control than carrying boxes on your back.
3.    Keep boxes manageable
The boxes should weigh no more than 30 kilograms. Overloading boxes not only cause back injuries, but increase the chances of items falling off of the box.
4.    Wrap sharp objects individually
Before putting knives, hatchets and other sharp objects in the box, wrap them with packing paper or newsprint to protect yourself from cuts and nicks.
5.    Use moving tools
Borrow tools which can ease the shifting and transporting of the boxes and other heavy items.Removals Use furniture pads for moving furniture and dollies for boxes. Use a ramp to smoothly load the goods into the truck.
