The South Western and Battersea postcode area, often written as the London SW postcode area or just the SW postcode area consists of 29 postcode districts all within the LONDON post town. Since 1917, it has had its 29 numbered postcode districts, but before that the area was known as the South Western district. The Battersea district, which is represented by the SW11 through SW20 postcode districts is also part of the postcode area. There have been a number of changes to the postcode area since it was established in 1857, including its increase in size in 1868 when the S district was eliminated. One of the postcode districts – SW99 – is a non-geographic one and is used by businesses with a lot of mail volume within the SW9 postcode district which covers Stockwell and other areas. Surrounding the SW postcode area are the London W, the London SE, Croydon (CR), Sutton (SM), Kingston upon Thames (KT) and Twickenham (TW) postcode areas, clockwise from the north.
SW20 is the highest numbered postcode district within the SW postcode area (other than SW99) and once had the name West Wimbledon district. It is found within the London Borough of Merton, which is its local authority area and covers Wimbledon Chase, Merton Park, Raynes Park and Lower Morden. The SW20 postcode district is part of the postcode area’s outer southwestern section, lying fully to the River Thames’ south. The district’s western border follows Beverley Way and at its northern end is bounded by the Royal Wimbledon Golf Course. Cannon Hill Common is another large green space within the district, which includes Bushey Mead and the Prince George’s Playing Field lying adjacent.
Did you know that everything can go perfectly on the day of your removal but if you don’t have a parking space saved in front of your new address, things can be significantly delayed?. Many people forget to reserve a parking space with the council
prior to their moving day only to find that this causes delays and worry. Once you’ve hired us and hired a parking space, you have absolutely nothing left to worry about, except what colour to paint your new sitting room.
